What is Zobo Drink?

This beverage is produced from dried hibiscus leaves – also called zobo leaves.

Ingredients Needed

  • 6-7 cups Zobo leaves
  • 3 Pineapple flavoured sweetener
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 meduim-sized fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp Cloves
  • 7 liters water

Step-by-Step Process: How to make zobo for sale

  • Pick out the dirt and stones
  • Clean the leaves in water two to three times.
  • Peel off the skin of the ginger and cut into small sizes.
  • Blend the ginger with water till it is smooth.
  • Fill a big pot with water
  • Pour ginger paste and cloves into the water
  • Add zobo leaves and cook for 25 minutes on high heat.
  • After 25 minutes, pour the drink into a sieve to separate the drink from the leaves.
  • Fill the pot with about half of the quantity of water used earlier
  • Pour the cooked leaves into it the pot again
  • Cook for 30 minutes on high heat again.
  • Sieve again to remove the leaves
  • For smoothness and to remove small particles, use a fine mesh sieve to sieve both batches of cooked again.
  • Sweeten the drink by adding sugar and flavoured sweetener of choice
  • Mix well and allow cool down completely.
  • Get small bottles with covers
  • Sterilise the bottles by cleaning them thoroughly with warm water and mild soap
  • Rinse several times until it no longer smell of soap
  • Set upside down to drain off water used for washing.
  • Fill the bottes with the drink
  • Cover tightly and refrigerate or freeze.
