fried fish

Hello my amazing foodie family, today I share with you my amazing fried fish recipe. This is an easy and perfect way to fry fish with flour and you will love it.

Growing up, eating fish fried with flour was one of my many fond childhood memories.

This is because fried fish is a Nigerian street food commonly sold by food vendors especially in the afternoon after school closes.

One of the reasons why this type of fish is mostly available in the afternoons is because of the demand is usually high at that time.

Many people buy fried fish at that time because it is a favourite ‘go-to’ food combination for drinking garri.

Now I will proceed to list the ingredients I used to make this delicious fried fish.

Ingredients for fried fish

  • 2 mackerel fishes
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 seasoning cube
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper – optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs – contains parsley, marjoram, basil, oregano, thyme.

As stated earlier, this type of fish can be enjoyed with different foods.

Here are some food combinations I would like you to try with your fried fish when you make it.

  • Garri and fried fish
  • Oats and fried fish
  • Noodles and fish

These are the three most common combinations. Now I will proceed to the detailed recipe on how to use the ingredients listed above to make a very delicious fried fish.
