This is a Nigerian food channel and there are many food recipes here. But today, I’ll be sharing with you this amazing healthy drink prepared with fresh organic ingredients.

It is enjoyed as a natural homemade remedy for pain, fever, achy joints and soreness in the muscle. It is also good for the nail, skin, nails and general wellness.

This drink is popularly sold on streets in the afternoon in Nigeria by food vendors.

Typically, the vendors fill big bowls with the drink the add lots of ice cubes to make a cool.

Many times, the temperature in Nigeria rises as high as 40 degrees, so, the ice cubes are added to make the drink cool, nice and suitable for the hot weather.

Looks like an orange but has a sour taste. Citruses are healthy and rich in Vitamin C.

Ingredients

  • Lemongrass
  • 5 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 4 Grape fruits
  • 5L water
  • 3 Lemons

Turmeric has antioxidant and anti -inflammatory properties which makes it really good for the body.

Lemon grass is an herb that has a mint-like slightly earthy taste. It can support normal digestive function and it traditionally used a pain reliever.

Just like all citruses, grapefruits and lemons are rich in vitamin C. They aid digestion and also help with iron absorption in the body.

How to prepare turmeric grapefruit drink

  • Thoroughly clean lemongrass, lemons and grape fruits in water multiple times until the water used for cleaning is no longer dirty
  • Slice the fruits and set aside
  • Fill a big pot with water
  • Add lemon grass, grapefruit slices and turmeric powder
  • Boil for 20 minutes
  • Allow to cool down
  • Serve hot or cold.
